Mike McMahon, SIOR, CCIM, owner of McMahon Properties, has specialized in the industrial real estate market since 1979. His primary focus and expertise is in the marketing of industrial properties for lease or sale. Following graduation from Southwest Texas State University in 1968 with a BBA degree, a tour of active duty with the Marine Corps and six years in the hospitality industry in sales and marketing with Westin and Marriott Hotels, McMahon began his real estate career in 1979 as an agent with Commercial Industrial Properties. In 1984, he helped form Realcor Properties, a new commercial real estate company for Tom Turner Interests. When the company was sold, he formed McMahon Properties in 1986. In 1990-1991, he performed consulting work for the Resolution Trust Corporation and in 1996, he spent 2 years with the local office of Trammell Crow Company, assisting with the reopening of their industrial division. McMahon received his SIOR designation in 1986 and his CCIM designation in 1993. He has submitted several articles on industrial real estate to local publications and has taught commercial real estate sales and marketing classes at the San Antonio Board of Realtors. In his 24 years of experience in the industrial field, McMahon’s accomplishments include completion of leases with almost every major developer and property owner in San Antonio, the sale of large, single and multi-tenant buildings, successful marketing and disposition of difficult problem properties and site location work for local and national firms. Recently, he has been active in purchasing industrial buildings for a local partnership which he helped form. He has served as a commissioner and chairman on the San Antonio Zoning Commission and with the Land Development Services Committee of the Planning Commission. McMahon served as Chairman of the Commercial Investment Division of the San Antonio Board of Realtors and has been active as a volunteer in several organizations, namely, Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department, Project Learn to Read and St. Peter’s Catholic church. Along with 3 years active duty, he served 24 years of reserve duty with the Marine Corps, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1995. In 2002, McMahon was honored at the CCIM Symposium receiving the Big Dog and Tough Dog awards for completing an industrial investment sale in Brownsville in excess of $20 million. He was also honored with the William E. Fleming Award in recognition of his “outstanding example and legacy of fair dealing, community involvement, faith in God, and service to his fellow man”. McMahon has been married to the former Kathleen Parkin for 37 years and has 2 daughters and 2 grandchildren. |
